It’s midnight in the UK, and 4 p.m. In California and we are just back in the hotel after a hot day.
We started out at the timeshare chat, if only to get the free breakfast (a bacon and spinach croissant, coffee, and a cup of fruit) and vouchers to use in the resort, which hopefully will take care of yesterday’s wine tasting charge! It was very interesting and quite frankly if it had suited my lifestyle more, I may have gone for it, but really it was impractical. However, we have got a voucher each for a week’s rental of an apartment anywhere we choose, which is good.
After the chat, we set off for Napa town, which did suffer quite badly in the recent earthquake, and went to the farmers’ market and food market in town, which was great. We picked up cheese, pate, crackers, olives and wine for supper, as well as a recommendation for a wine tasting. While there, the owner said he had just employed a young man from Shrewsbury, who recognised Liz’s accent, much to her her annoyance!
So after that, off we trotted to Robert Sinskey’s vineyard on the Silverado Trail, and spent a happy while tasting half a dozen wines, and eating a few tasty accompanying nibbles. At a minimum of $36 a bottle, we decided against further purchases.
So we are back in the hotel, exhausted and happy, pondering whether to go down to the pool, or have a snooze. Any bets?
Ooh, nearly forgot. We found some interestingly named beers
