Last leg, literally

this morning we left St Michaels. We spent yesterday watching Ospreys in their nests along the waterfront. I will only post one more photo of Ospreys as I know it’s not everybody’s kind of thing, but we have been absolutely bowled over by the fact that there are nesting stations.

Another grey day, rain overnight, and although the resort is as dead as a dead thing, housekeeping didn’t manage to clean the room yesterday. Wonder how they manage when more than 4 people visit the place.  So disappointed in the hotel, so delighted that we saw Ospreys. We found a bar in the town that served breakfast, and decided to have another go at a corned beef hash, after a dreadful experience in SF. This one was better, but good value as it was with me all day.  A very sad dinner at the hotel. Ghastly in fact so we were pleased to leave.

in theory, we should have been in DC by about 10.30 … Due to my navigational abilities we dropped the car at 11.30 and I was nearly in tears with stress and frustration. And I nearly killed a cop.  But we have gotten rid of the car, checked into The Mayflower hotel. It’s huge. and very posh.  Having dropped the bags, we set off for a foray and did the White House (security was HIGH), and then the museum of American history – saw Prince’s guitar and about 4 million screaming teens on school tours!

Our hotel is great, we had a good lunch here, nice room.

Unfortunately we couldn’t meet up with Andrea and Jonny tonight and they are away for the weekend, so we took ourselves off for dinner at a really nice restaurant nearby and it was so good, we have booked for tomorrow night as well ??

tomorrow we are going to visit the space museum, and maybe an art museum. Tonight, we are very tired, so it’s an earlyish night
