Just in case anybody is missing a post today, the reason is that we have spent 8 1/2 hours in the car getting here in the Sequoia National Park. Grrrr! We did see a coyote, but were in too much of a hurry to get out of Death Valley before it got too hot. Then the trek began in earnest. Bloody miles and miles of being misled by the satnav and the tour operator who said it was only 5 1/2 hours. The miserable bit is that we have to retread our footsteps on Sunday to get to Indian Wells/palm springs. So tomorrow we will make the best of this wilderness and do some trails and set off early Sunday. There is very limited wifi here so will post when I can. No photos today chaps!
I booked a deluxe room, but the photos in the hotel brochure looked suspiciously like the standard room, so being grumpy and hot and tired and somewhat disillusioned when we arrived, I queried whether we did in fact have a deluxe room. Or could they possibly have made a mistake. Only to be told that the vey small round table and two chairs made of driftwood constitute the the upgrade. It apparently means there is more space in the room! Everything seems to have stopped on 1 September, so we really are very isolated without facilities.
On the plus side, there is a mummy deer and fawn roaming around the car park. Which has contributed to a huge increase in the amount of wildlife we have seen.
Yours, disillusioned of Woking. Let’s hope tomorrow is a good day.

8.5 hours in a hot car is way, way, way too long.
Sounds like a not so good day. I’m sure it will get better again xxx
